The Cumberland County parking garage is conveniently located in Portland’s Old Port, and offers hourly and monthly public parking for visitors to the city. We are less than 2 blocks to Merrill Auditorium, Casco Bay Lines and City Hall.

Snow Ban Parking Rates

When the city of Portland announces a Citywide OR Yellow Zone parking ban due to inclement weather, a reduced rate is offered for parking during the listed Parking Ban Hours. Vehicles entering before or exiting  after the Snow Ban will incur prevailing rates.

Special Event Parking
Special event rates are offered for the Merrill Auditorium, Old Port Festival, Maine Marathon and other events in Portland. Please contact the garage for group rates and direct billing options.

PAYMENT

To pay, bring your ticket to the Walk-Up Kiosk located by the 1st. floor elevator before returning to your vehicle.

  • Credit (Visa, Discover and MasterCard) or Debit ONLY.
  • We do NOT accept American Express or Cash
  • Daily parking transactions occur, prior to returning to your vehicle, at our Walk-Up Pay Station located by the Ground Floor elevator. 
  •  Please Note: Once you have paid your fee at the Walk-Up Pay Station, you have a 15 Minute grace period to exit the building. Departures which occur beyond the 15 minute grace period will result in additional charges.
  •  (Payments for individual passes are explained in your pass contract)

When possible, back your vehicle into the parking space to help facilitate mechanical assistance if necessary. If needed, roadside assistance companies will be given free access in and out of the garage. Contact the attendant.

Please note: 

  1. The Exit Gate MAY be open when you depart.  This is to assist our Local and Federal Law Enforcement services. Unless you are using a Valid Monthly Pass to exit, you MUST pay at the pre-pay kiosk located by the elevator on the ground floor (1st floor), regardless of whether the gate is open or closed. Cameras are in use throughout the garage.
  2. Park in designated spaces. Unless authorized, parking in Reserved Spaces may result in your vehicle being towed. All Reserved Spaces are clearly marked.
Parking FAQ

What are the hours of the garage?

  • The garage operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.  
  • Staff is on-site Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Afterhours help can be summoned by pressing the CALL FOR HELP button located on the Automated Payment Machine in the Exit Lane.   On-Call assistance is available 24/7. 

 What are the vehicle size restrictions of the garage?

  • The garage accommodates vehicles up to 6’9” in height.
  • We do not accept motorcycles, dually type trucks, oversized trucks / SUV’s, vehicles with snowplows or vehicles towing trailers.
  • Remove any bicycles, kayaks or other high-top roof carriers BEFORE attempting to enter the garage.

 Can I leave my vehicle in the garage for multiple days?

  • Yes. Contact the Garage Manager regarding multiple day parking. 
  • Vehicles CANNOT be stored in the garage.  Vehicles left parked in the same space for extended periods of time without prior approval are subject to towing.
  • No overnight parking allowed above the 4th floor November-May

 Do you have ADA accessible parking?

  • Parking for guests with disabilities is located on floors 2 – 5, directly in front of the elevator. All ADA spaces are wheelchair accessible and clearly marked.

 Do you have EV Charging Stations?

  • No, we do not offer EV charging stations.
  • A list of EV charging stations are offered by the City of Portland.

  • The Elevator is located on the 1st Floor by the Exit Door, nearest the entry gate.
  • Handicap Parking is available on Floors 2 – 5 directly next to the Elevator and Stairwell.
  • The entrance to the State and County Courthouse is located directly across the street at 205 Newbury Street.  
  • The entrance to the Federal Courthouse is located about 1.5 blocks from the garage at 156 Federal Street, on the corner of Federal and Market Street.

Juror Parking

If you are serving on a State or Federal Jury, the ticket validation process is the same. The garage services all courthouses. The only difference is the courthouse location. PLEASE check your paperwork to ensure you are going to the correct court building for your service.

Juror Parking

To access the public entrance to the garage, enter Federal Street, go to the end and make a RIGHT onto Newbury Street.  The public entrance is located on the LEFT side under the large PARKING sign.

Courthouse Locations

State of Maine Courthouse   205 Newbury Street, Portland, ME  04101   (GPS address, not mailing)  The entrance to the State and County Courthouse is located directly across the street at 205 Newbury Street.

156 Federal Street Portland, ME  04101(Corner of Market and Federal Street) The  Federal Courthouse is located about 1.5 blocks from the garage at 156 Federal Street, on the corner of Federal and Market Street.

Parking and Entry

The Cumberland County Courthouse Garage (CCCG) operates on a First Come / First Serve basis regardless of the type of Jury service.  Active Jurors will receive a validation stamp on their ticket for complimentary parking.  If parking at any other authorized facility, please present your ticket to courthouse personnel for further assistance.

Your Jury paperwork includes a list of alternative parking facilities and their locations if the CCCG is at capacity. 

Jury Pool 

Arriving early for your assigned call-time will increase your chances of securing a space in the garage but does not guarantee that space will be available.

Grand Jury or Jury Trial – State or Federal

Every effort is made to ensure that people who are serving on a Grand Jury or an active Jury Trial are accommodated in the Garage but space cannot be guaranteed.

Parking Passes

We offer (5) types of Monthly Parking passes.  All passes are offered on a First Come / First Serve basis. Feel free to contact the garage with your specific parking needs. Please note that NO pass allows for vehicle storage.  When inquiring about a parking pass, regardless of type, it is very important that you specify:

  1. Type of Pass (see below)
  2. Requested Start Date
  3. Duration
  4. Vehicle Size and Type
  5. Contact Name and Phone Number

Listed below are the types of passes offered.  When inquiring about a parking pass, please choose the one that best suits your needs before you contact the garage: 

  1. Annual Monthly Pass: Subject to availability, this pass allows 24/7 access to the garage, including Snow Ban parking and Special Events.  This is the least restrictive pass offered by Cumberland County.
  2. Off-Peak Monthly Pass:  Designed primarily for the local resident or reverse-commuter, this pass offers parking privileges from 4 p.m. until 8:00 the following morning, M – Fri.  Weekends are unrestricted.  Parking during the normal business day from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. is NOT included.  
  1. Weekend Parking Pass:  This MONTHLY parking pass is designed for visitors who frequently visit Portland on the weekends.  This pass allows unrestricted pass offers parking privileges from 4 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Monday.  
  1. Short-Term Pass: Visiting Portland for more than 8 days? Subject to Seasonal availability, this pass offers UNRESTRICTED parking privileges, 24/7, for up to 14-days.  Reservations and payment must be made in advance.
  1. Summer Seasonal:  Do you visit Portland each summer for an extended period of time? Our Summer Seasonal Pass may be for you. This unrestricted MONTHLY pass offers the same benefits as our Annual Monthly Pass between 1 May and 30 September each year.  Please contact the garage for availability and prevailing rate information.
