Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency (CCEMA) and Cumberland County Regional Communications Center( CCRCC) teamed up to donate food for the holidays.
"We realized this year we're blessed and truly in need of nothing," said Christine Shepherd of CCRRC.
Rev. Jeff McIlwain, volunteer pastor from Cumberland County Jail, knew of many individuals that were in need of a little extra help this holiday season. In the spirit of giving and in keeping with overall well-being, CCEMA and CCRCC teamed up with Rev. Jeff and donated food for those families in need from Buxton, Westbrook, Portland and South Portland.
"Wellness comes in all shapes and forms," said Donna Somma of CCEMA. "It's just not about eating right or exercising regularly. Studies show that when participating in volunteer activities or in giving , your heart benefits from it - physically. Kind of like the Grinch's heart at Christmas."
