Before we receive any CDBG money, the Department of Housing and Urban Development requires we show how the projects we would support with their funds address the needs of local people. The image below describes that process for figuring out where to spend the federal government's money.
In order to figure out what needs fixing in Cumberland County, we'd usually visit as many towns as possible to listen to locals describe their problems. However, until the state lifts social distancing restrictions, we're not allowed to see anyone in person. So, until the world gets back to normal, we need you to tell us how we can be useful over the internet.
...problems finding or maintaining affordable/public housing in Cumberland County
...problems while experiencing homelessness in Cumberland County
...trouble searching for a job or participating in a job training program in Cumberland County
...managing or owning a business in Cumberland County
...Trouble accessing high-speed internet at your home in Cumberland County
...regularly used a community center or recreation area that is managed by a town or city in Cumberland County (such as a park, baseball field, or recreation center)
As we compile our plan over the next few months, we will be analyzing responses to that survey regularly. That means by diligently answering our questions, you’re ensuring we hear your opinion when we decide how to distribute millions of dollars to organizations across Cumberland County.
