Divisions

Electrical Division

The Cumberland County Electrical Division is responsible for the care and maintenance of many critical systems throughout all of the county facilities. These include two 24/7 operations: the Cumberland County Jail in Portland, and the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center in Windham.

The systems the electrical division maintains and oversees include:

  • Backup power
  • Building access control
  • Data and telephone lines
  • Energy conservation
  • Fire alarms
  • Lighting
  • Lightning protection
  • Power distribution
  • Video surveillance

Maintenance Division

The Maintenance Division is spread out over our various locations within the County.  These locations include:

  • Cumberland County Courthouse and adjacent County Parking Garage (Portland)
  • Cumberland County Jail Complex, which includes the Jail, Law Enforcement Center, and Community Correction Center (Portland)
  • Cumberland County Regional Communications Center and Emergency Management Agency  (Windham)

We are responsible for all maintenance, HVAC repair, plumbing, painting, and carpentry in the buildings. We are also responsible for snow removal operations in the winter and grounds beautification in the summer with the help of our custodial staff.

Fleet Maintenance Division

The Cumberland County Fleet Maintenance Division is responsible for the care and maintenance of all county vehicles and equipment. We are also responsible for the preparation of all vehicle bids.

We currently maintain about 100 vehicles. This includes marked patrol cars, detective cars, prisoner transport, and 4-wheel-drive trucks for snow removal. The vehicles travel over 1.25 million miles annually.

We take great pride in our preventive maintenance program. Vehicle safety is our first concern. In an effort to help control pollution in our environment, we have an extensive recycling program for all the waste that is generated from the maintenance of the fleet.
