Who Qualifies for Service?
Anyone who...

-Owns their house and has lived there for over a year

AND 

-Is part of a household making 80% of Area Median Income or less (find Area Median Income for Cumberland County HERE)

How to Get Service
Contact your local community action agency to start the application process. If you don't already know the phone number or email address of your County's CAA, you can find its contact information HERE

What Services Does USDOA Offer?
-Loans to repair, improve or modernize homes or remove health and safety hazards (up to $20,000)

-Grants to remove health and safety hazards (up to $7,500)

-(Loans and grants can be combined)

Who Qualifies for USDOA's services?
Anyone who...

-Owns and currently lives in their house

-Is part of a family making under 50% Area Median Income (find Area Median Income for Cumberland County HERE)

AND

-Is unable to find credit from another organization

Habitat for Humanity Greater Portland
What Services Does Habitat for Humanity Offer?
Includes but not limited to:

-Structural issues, excluding foundations

-Accessibility issues

-Unsafe roofing or flooring

-Lack of heat

-Electrical hazards

-Plumbing hazards

Who Qualifies for Service?
Anyone located in Cumberland County (outside of Brunswick) who...

-Owns a house with a Tax Assessment Building Value less than $200,000

-Has owned and occupied said home for over three years

-Lives in a household whose income is at or below 80% Area Median Income (find Area Median Income for Cumberland County HERE)

-Whose household is current on their mortgage and property tax payments

-Is willing for HFHGP to conduct a credit check and background check on all residents over age 18

How to Get Service
Download, complete, and mail an application to Habitat for Humanity Greater Portland (Link to application HERE)
City of Portland Department of Housing and Urban Development 
What services does the City of Portland's Healthy Homes and Lead Safe Housing Program offer?
-XRF testing of the unit(s) to determine the extent of lead-based paint hazards

-Development of abatement specifications by a consultant and the CCLHC

-Blood screening of children, resident education, and if necessary, relocation services

-Inspection and testing after completion of lead hazard control to ensure satisfactory work

Who Qualifies for Service?
Anyone in Cumberland County who...

-Lives in a unit with a child with an elevated blood level of 5 ug/dl or greater

-Lives in a unit with children less than six years of age

-Lives in a unit with two or more bedrooms and located in target areas of Portland and Westbrook (Other areas in Cumberland County will be considered case by case).

-Lives in a unit rented to low-income families for a period of 3 years

-Has corrected any of their home's outstanding code violations 

-Is current on all municipal payments where the unit is located (real estate taxes, water and sewer charges, rehab loans, etc.)

How to Get Service
If you qualify for HEAP, contact your local community action agency and ask to apply for home weatherization. If you don't already know how to contact your County's CAA, you can find its contact information HERE

Who Qualifies for Service?
Anyone who...

Owns their home and lives there full time 

AND

Is eligible for HEAP (To check if you're eligible for HEAP, click HERE) OR Lives in a home valued at or below $130,000

How to Get Service?
STEP 1: Enter your zip code and the specific type of weatherization service you're looking for HERE

STEP 2: Select a contractor to get in touch with

STEP 3: Contact that contractor to:

      1. Agree on the specific weatherization services they'll conduct for you

      2. Reserve a time for them to come over to complete services

STEP 4: Email or call Efficiency Maine to confirm you're eligible for a rebate on your reservation ( lii@efficiencymaine.com OR call 866-376-2463)

STEP 5: Have your contractor complete any appropriate section of a rebate claim form (found HERE)

STEP 6: Have contractor complete weatherization services on your home

STEP 7: Finish filling out and submit the rebate claim form your contractor started 

STEP 8: Allow six weeks for form to process
