The Emergency Services Unit is a specialized group of deputies with advanced training in tactical maneuvers to contain, negotiate and resolve situations which are considered high risk. The ESU Team is prepared to respond to any high-risk situations that occurs within Cumberland County. The Emergency Services Unit is also specifically trained to accomplish search and rescue initiatives. The 15-member team is made up of 3 Crisis Negotiators and 12 members from the Patrol and Corrections Divisions of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The team had over 1,152 man hours of ESU training as well as 72 man hours for Hostage Negotiating training.
