Malory Shaughnessy was sworn into office on January 2, 2007 to represent District Three of Cumberland County. She has lived in Windham for over twenty years with her husband, Michael Shaughnessy, a Professor of Art at the University of Southern Maine. Together, they are the parents of Theo, Avery, Ciaran and Tulleigh.

Commissioner Shaughnessy received her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Missouri in 1987. In 1991, she received a Masters Degree in Public Policy from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine where she was a research assistant to Professors Richard Barringer and Josie LaPlante. After graduate school, she worked in the office of Congressman Tom Andrews as a Legislative Analyst and Regional Representative. She has since worked in a variety of positions from Community Organizer in the Bayside neighborhood of Portland to Executive Director for the Maine Citizens for Clean Elections.
