
CCEMA Grants
Public Safety Interoperable Communications:
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced a one-time Public Safety Interoperability Communications (PSIC) grant to increase interoperability between public safety entities. DHS grants require NIMS compliance for eligibility. Grant Applications must be submitted electronically to the Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency by close of business 1 July, 2008.
Disaster Reimbursement
In 2007 Cumberland County experienced one presidential declared disaster, commonly referred to as the Patriot’s Day Storm which took place over several days in April 2007.
Municipalities and non-profit organizations received more than $ 11,000,000 in reimbursement funding from damages associated with the Patriots Day storm. Assistance in the form of grants and low interest loans was made available to businesses and homeowners exceeding $ 7,000,000.
HazMat Training Grants:
The Cumberland County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) was instrumental in obtaining over $ 40,000.00 for municipal Fire Department Hazardous Materials Response Training through the State of Maine and the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act (SARA Title III).
2007 Homeland Security Grants:
Over $362,812.00 was awarded to Cumberland County Emergency Management and Cumberland County Municipalities in 2007 in the form of Homeland Security Grants.
Hazard Mitigation Grants Extension:
FEMA has granted the State of Maine an extension of 120 days to submit additioinal Hazard Mitigation Grants applications. Applications and further information available at www.maine.gov/mema/mitigation or by calling 1-800-452-8735.
