The Town of Gray, Maine received $154,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for pedestrian improvements in Gray Village. The town provided a 36% match comprised of municipal and the Maine Dept. of Transportation's Safe Routes to School Program funding. Improvements include upgraded/new crosswalks at the Shaker Rd/Main St/Brown St intersection, the busiest intersection in town, and 734' of upgraded/new sidewalks along Main St. The project broke ground in early April 2012 and is expected to be complete mid-June 2012.
