Cumberland County Animal Response Team (CCART) participated in its third Dogs Days of August event Saturday, August 22, 2015 setting up a public information table in Discovery Park at L.L.Bean, in Freeport - an excellent public education event! With the crowds shopping and browsing through the Freeport area – thousands of people came by. What better venue and opportunity to talk with people about their pets about preparedness! Though showers in the forecast - the sun came out and stayed for the day!
Events held included a 5k Walk and Run as well as a variety of canine events: best dressed best barker, best kisser, and best tail wagger, to name a few. This venue provided CCART the chance to talk with people from all over, some from within our county and the state of Maine, and from other states and countries.
It is public educational events such as “The Dog Days of August” that gives CCART the opportunity to promote and educate emergency preparedness to individuals.
Thank you Martha Speiss, Marti Synder and Donna Somma for manning the booth and imparting preparedness to the public!
