About the Facility
Built in 1992, the Cumberland County Jail is a state of the art facility capable of housing all levels of security classifications for inmates. Accredited through the American Corrections Association, our number one commitment is to safely and humanely house inmates until which time the court system determines they may leave.

The Cumberland County Jail employs over 190 Correctional Officers, staffing 3 shifts a day, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All Corrections Officers must complete our rigorous Corrections Officer Academy which is modeled and approved by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
